Our Purpose
Kindred Forest is a retreat space dedicated to fostering personal, communal and ecological renewal in a serene 100-acre woodland setting located just over an hour southwest of St. Louis, MO. Through our personal and group retreats, we offer a peaceful haven for rest, creativity, self-discovery and reconnection with nature.
What We Offer
The Land
To love a place is not enough. We must find ways to heal it.
Robin Wall Kimmerer
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Ozark Highlands, Kindred Forest is located on over 100 acres of woodlands. With a history that dates back to the Osage people as its stewards, this area once flourished as oak woodlands and savannas. Unfortunately, the arrival of European settlers led to extensive logging, the introduction of invasive species, and a decline in wildlife populations. Over time, the land changed hands, belonging to a timber company and a family, before coming under our active stewardship.
We are facilitating the ongoing healing of this land through various sustainable practices, including the reintroduction of prescribed burns and removal of invasive species. We hold a deep belief in the reciprocal relationship between humans and the land. Just as we find healing and connection through nature, we also recognize our responsibility to nurture the land, working to revitalize its biodiversity and overall health.
